After the period of registration is closed the Competition Brief, CD and other documents will be delivered to all international competitors at their exact address via express mail or courier. Competitors from inside Egypt may receive the brief and documents in person at the competition address.

First Phase Competition Queries

This is the period allowed for competitors to send in their queries regarding the Competition Brief and program detailed within. Queries shall be submitted by on-line form, email, fax or on the official form contained with the Brief. This marks the beginning of the First Phase design process where competitors have had a chance to review the brief and start their conceptual designs.

First Phase of Competition
All queries shall be compiled and an official response will be circulated to all competitors at the same time.

The First Phase is a 100 day period which includes the queries stage, the response stage and the design and submittal stage of the competition. This period of time encompasses the query stage, the response stage, the conceptual design and deadline for submittal of documents stage of the First Phase of the competition.
The deadline for submittal of documents is 12:00h(+2GMT) 17 August 2002. All documents should be sent to the Technical Committee. Delivery can be made in person or entrusted to a courier. The Technical Committee shall not be held responsible for any transport delay causing entries to be received late.

Project Analysis

After submittal of the First Phase documents by competitors, the Technical Committee begins its review of all projects submitted. The Technical Committee reviews all entries to check compliance with the brief and competition rules. The Technical Committee then delivers its recommendations to the Jury.

First Phase Jury

12 October - 17 October 2002
The Jury meets during this period to review the First Phase design proposals from competitors. By the end of these five days, the Jury will have finalized its selection of the 20 entries that will continue on to the Second Phase of the competition.

Inform 20 Winners

The Legal Advisor has the task of informing the 20 competitors who have succeeded in the First Phase and who will be invited to develop their preliminary designs and compete in the Second Phase.

Entrants who have been selected to enter the Second Phase of the competition will be asked to confirm their participation.

The Jury meets during this period to review the Second Phase preliminary design proposals from competitors. By the end of these five days, the Jury will have finalized its selection and will have announced the winners and honourable mentions. This marks the end of the competition for the design for The Grand Museum of Egypt.

Final report and Exhibition of Projects

The Ministry of Culture will publish the final report of the Jury and host an exhibition of the design proposals submitted for the competition
