The activities of the 3rd symposium of GEM-CC ended on 5th of November 2014

The 3rd symposium, entitled “Conserving the Egyptian Cultural Heritage” was held from 3rd to 5th of November, 2014 under the organization of the Grand Egyptian Museum Conservation Center and JICA GEM-CC Project. Many egyptologists, conservators and scientists from inside / outside Egypt attend the symposium. It was held at le Mercure hotel from 3-5 November 2014 .

Many researches were presented during the symposium to explain methods used to conserve, preserve and store GEM’s artifacts. Dr. Tarek Tawfik , the general director of GEM, presented a research entitled “ a new concept for the grand staircase display” to discuss the methods of displaying artifacts at GEM. Moreover, another research about “handling and packing of selected artifacts of GEM collection “was presented. In addition, a group of scientist and university professors participated in the discussion of these researches. The symposium was a great opportunity for egyptologists, conservators and scientists to communicate together and to have ideas about the methods used to conserve, preserve and store GEM’s artifacts.
